The Women of Deh Koh: Five contemporary Egyptian women, ranging in age from early twenties to mid-sixties, members of Cairo’s impoverished middle to lower classes, told their life stories to Nayra Atiya over a period of many months. Khsal brilliant introduction before diving into bigger, deeper novels such as the Palace Walk series. I fir if it were possible to give this book 10 stars I would. Some bits were interesting, and tidbits of egyptian knowledge and customs is what kept me going with this book, but none of the characters stood out enough for me to be able to ohul between them after a while.
