Alera wasn’t wimpy she stood up to her father and others, but she was respectful of protocol, and her kingdom. The review must be at least 50 characters long. The only reason I persevered and forced myself to read this thing was because I liked one character. View all 7 comments. Princess Alera is a strong character. I found it absolutely effortless to race to the end. I detested the way she treated Steldor, when it was obvious how much he’d changed after they were married.
Soo frustrated at this novel at the moment. There might be a beautiful story in these pages, I just don’t have the patience to read it. Book Review and More. The characters are flat and uni-dimensional, for the most part.
Clearly defined and illustrated, I felt like I was able to step into Alera’s world, which is quite a feat. That said, she’s probably more heavy handed than necessary to get her point across, yes, we know she’s trying to break into a male dominated world even though she’s queen now and be the one making the life and death decisions for her kingdom, and sometimes it makes her look meaner for it, but she has her moments where she makes the hard choices that makes her actions understandable, though in a few places I think the pressures do get to her.
Princess Alera of Hytanica Kingdom is coming of age to marry. Buy the selected items together This item: It was the perfect book for me.
It set a tone for me. At the front of the hall on the marble dais, the King’s Elite Guard formed a double arc on each side of the thrones, with Can-nan, clad in the black jerkin he wore as Captain of the Guard, standing closest to the right side of the King’s throne.

Granted, it’s not an easy decision, but fayla the lives of hundreds of thousands of people compare to the lives of two people, retired people at that?
She is younger and I do know how bothersome younger siblings can be but Alera and her sister were just too boring to care about. Add in the fact that Alera’s kingdom is on the brink of war and you’re really screwed.
